Offley at DefenseWatch details the threat at home. Not only is al
Quaeda able to operate in the US, but they are also successful at
recruiting American citizens for their cause. While Liberals at the New York Times
and elsewhere, are wringing their hands about a new "McCarthyism," this
Newshound would like to remind them of a few conservative beliefs that
were confirmed after the fall of the Soviet Union:
- The Soviet threat was in fact real. Declassified documents show how
the Soviets were busy infiltrating the US government at all levels
throughout the entire Cold War.
- The Soviet Union did in fact fund and control liberal groups in Europe, and to a lesser extent, in the US.
- Alger Hiss was a spy, Julius Rosenberg was a spy and the founders of the U.N. included US officials in service to the Soviets.
- Contrary to the hand wringing by liberals, the FBI was not
responsible for miscarriages of justice carried out during the Cold
War. Congressmen — eager to make political gains — were responsible for
injustices committed out of zeal to root out communists. These
congressmen included two Kennedy's. McCarthy was the leader; however,
he did not and could not have acted alone.
Contrary to whatever the Times tells us, Americans should not be afraid to root out the threat within. DefenseWatch New York Times
