With the rising concern for our troops abroad, scam artists will no doubt be operating. Be wary when
making donations. USDef.org endeavors to list only legitimate operations; however, we do not
independently verify claims made by the organizations listed on this site. We encourage caution when
making donations, and we offer these tips:
- Do not respond to organizations that use spam email.
- Ask for written information from telemarketers.
- Be careful of similar sounding names.
- Refuse high pressure appeals.
- Never send cash.
- When in doubt, donate to well-known charities.
- Check with the Better Business Bureau or the Department of Defense if
you are suspicious.
